What is Online Counselling?

Online - Counselling is 'talking therapy' using the medium of email technology. You can talk in confidence without being judged, to someone who is trained to help and is not part of your everyday life. Online - counselling gives you the client, time to explore your thoughts and feelings about whatever is troubling you.

Putting thoughts and feelings into words, and then writing them down can help identify issues that are troublesome to us.

I will  reply to emails as soon as possible - usually within 48hrs. Between us we will create an online conversation(if needed), which is a therapeutic relationship which offers a confidential and supportive environment.

Please note, that this service is not available to those under the age of 18.

First email is free! Please use the 'contact us' facility to recieve a free consultation. If I feel that I can help in any way, subsequent emails will be charged at £ 20 per email.

Is Online Counselling suitable for me?

Whether you're depressed, anxious, stressed, grieving or in a situation that is causing you emotional turmoil, talking to a counsellor can help you work things out and improve your well being.

Is Online Counselling Appropriate for Everyone?

If you suffer from any form of psychosis, episodes of hallucinations or disorganised thoughts.

If you have suicidal tendencies.

If you have thoughts of harming yourself or others.

I would suggest that you contact your G.P., Physician, Medical Practitioner or The Samaritans.

What Is The Difference Between Online Counselling, And Other Forms Of Counselling

ImageOnline Counselling works with what we write. Conventional therapy often works with what we say, and lends itself to face to face encounters.

Another difference is that e-mail counselling allows you to take as much time as you like. Giving you time to compose your thoughts and feelings. Plus you are able to do this within the comfort of your own home.

Some people find e-mail based counselling less embarrassing, as they find it difficult to talk to a therapist face-to-face. However, I do wish to point out, that e-mail counselling is not a replacement for conventional therapy.

Stress

Stress can happen to us all. It is said that one persons stress may be someone else's excitement. It is true that we all experience stress differently. A certain amount of stress in our lives can help motivate us. However, too much stress can have harmful effects on our physical and emotional wellbeing.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a complex combination of emotions that includes:

  • Fear
  • Apprehension
  • Worry

It is often accompanied by physical sensations such as:

  • palpitations
  • nausea
  • chest pain
  • shortness of breath

Bereavement and Loss

Losing someone we love or are close to, can be a hard and emotional time for all of us. There are five stages that can occur during the grieving process:

  • Depression
  • Numbness and Shock
  • Feeling of Seperation
  • Disorganisation
  • Reorganisation

It can take quite some time to work through the grieving process and this is where a therapist can help.
